COL001 – Monument eines unbekannten Menschen LP + Poster<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monument eines unbekannten Menschen is a limited edition vinyl featuring an original orchestral composition by Beni Brachtel, created for Ersan Mondtag\u2019s installation of the same name in the German Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, 2024. Includes a 24″ x 36″ collectible poster.<\/p>\n

In a droplet-shaped structure with three levels to explore,
\nMondtag gathers the fragments of a life: the world of
\nwork, housing, and public space. In this world, figures
\nmove like quotations of an everyday life that is past and
\ncannot be reconstructed clearly. It is a search through
\nthe dust of unwritten history, its starting point is the biography of Mondtag\u2019s grandfather, Hasan Ayg\u00fcn.
\nOriginally from a poor, rural region east of Ankara, Ayg\u00fcn moved to West Berlin in the mid1960s and worked for more than 30 years at the Eternit company, which manufactured building materials from asbestos. Shortly after his retirement, Ayg\u00fcn died from a severe lung condition that was clearly caused by inhaling the toxic fibers.<\/p>\n

Brachtel’s composition, which he recorded with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, sets the basic structure for the live performance for five actors. In the midst of 24 speakers, visitors were immersed in the life of Hasan Ayg\u00fcn on three levels.
